Bomber Brigade Game Design Experience

Hello Everyone,

I would like to share my experience about my game Bomber Brigade 

which was initially made for a ludum dare game jam and then after putting 6 months of effort to polish the game it was finally realised for mobile platform.

Game idea was really simple that as a player you are a Bomb disposal officer and you have to diffuse bombs by just pushing them. These bombs are planned by aliens who are trying to destroy all the planets.

From the game design point of view, I was planning to make the game simple and enjoyable so that players can easily understand the game by just seeing a bomb and a bomb diffuser. Certainly there was no mechanics to diffuse the bombs instead you have to push the bombs into the space so that your planet is safe.

Planning mechanics like pushing, punching was not difficult but the small challenge was for jumping . Nobody jump on bombs to diffuse it so I thought of rotating bots and that almost solved the problem because of the their shape. A dome like shape gives a player intuition that player have to jump on them.

I also had a flying robots which shoot the player with their lasers in order to destroy them player has to double jump and then punch them which was little complex and I found no great solution other than creating a video to make players understand about the mechanics. I drastically failed with this concept but no one watched the video and had no clue that how to kill the flying robots. Later I introduce image tutorial that guided the player.
